From synergy comes Syns. Syns are how slimmers can continue to enjoy their favourite foods that typical diets forbid without feeling guilty or slowing down their weight loss. Syns are a way of automatically limiting the intake of foods that are high in energy density, and so make weight loss difficult. Slimming World members enjoy anywhere between 5 and 15 Syns a day.

Flexible Syns

Flexible SynsFree Foods are the ground-breaking heart of Food Optimising. They turn conventional dieting on its head and liberate slimmers from the restrictions and deprivations of calorie counting regimes.

Free Foods are low in energy density and high in their ability to satisfy appetite quickly and for longer. There are more than 400 Free Foods, all healthy everyday foods like pasta and potatoes, lean meat and fish and fruit and vegetables, that can be eaten in unlimited quantities - without weighing or measuring - to provide slimmers with the freedom and choice they need to take 100% control of what they eat, when they eat and where they eat.

 

the Green & Original choice

Research sponsored by Slimming World, and that was published in 1996, shows that of the major food groups, foods rich in protein or carbohydrate are the most effective in satisfying appetite and keeping us full for longer. There are only four calories to every gram of carbohydrate and protein, while a gram of fat contains nine calories. And because fat is least effective at satisfying appetite, it's all too easy to eat far more than our bodies require.

The Green and Original choices make it easy for slimmers to fill up and stay full on their favourite foods. All they have to do is choose whether they want to follow:

The Slimming World Green choice.The Green choice - which includes unlimited filling and healthy foods rich in carbohydrate, such as pasta and potatoes as well as protein-rich foods like lentils and pulses and measured amounts of meat, fish and poultry, bread, cereals and dairy products, or

The Slimming World Original choice.The Original choice - which includes unlimited satisfying protein-rich foods such as lean meat, fish and poultry as well as fresh fruit and vegetables and measured amounts of other carbohydrates like pasta, rice, potatoes, bread and cereals as well as dairy products.

The new Extra Easy eating plan, launched in 2009 to mark Slimming World’s 40th birthday, gives a really easy, flexible start to every slimmer’s journey. It’s easy to follow with loads more choices, no measuring and no counting. And because it’s based on basic everyday filling foods, it fits easily with the family whatever their lifestyle. Extra Easy offers members:
